I always felt frumpy. Like a giant shoved into clothes that were not made for me. One day while ordering online clothes I cracked and measured myself. That when I learned a key factor in determining my prom dresses: I had an around a hour glass figure!! My bust measures around a 42C, waist 32, and hips 43. Due to these measurements I learned that a fit and flare dress with sweetheart necklines are my best fit. It gives ‘the girls’ a flirty peek a boo style without being too put there, shows off my tiny waist, and then gives me plenty of room to move my legs etc. I especially find corset style backs to be flattering since I can control the waist sizing in case I get a little friendly with the pints at the icecream store ;)

Now let's talk colors. For 90% of the year I have blue-brown ombré hair. Otherwise it's dark brown. my skin tone is ‘sun kissed’ and eyes hazel. Because of this I tend to be pretty careful of what colors I wear. Generally a soft rose gold or rose quartz shade compliments me. I stay away from bright colors like neon oranges, yellow, and greens.

Moral of the story: Learn your dress shape and colors that compliment your skin tone. Also, be sure to have a good bra that fits properly. If you know that you will be wearing heels, bring a pair to the dress store(s) that are roughly the same height of the ones you plan on purchasing for the Prom. I'd suggest ~3inches since in my experience all to my heels that I wear with dresses are 5icnhes or more.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3611877557719140561.post-35574465197623862302016-04-16T18:36:18.736-04:002016-04-16T18:36:18.736-04:00Great post! :)

I was also baffled by this so I'll tell you mine pros and cons

long dress: looking like a princess, there are only few occasions where you'll have the opportunity to wear a long dress, so elegant, not good for dancing (it's prom, not a ball), ruining the dress is almost a sure thing.
short dress: do not go too short (just above your knees is short enough for the prom; it's not a night club party either), elegant but you can actually move and dance, you'll have more chance to wear it sometime again

as I said, I chose a short one and I don't feel sorry.

great post :)

xo Honey
honeysroyaltybeauty.blogspot.comHoneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18041601004743454672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3611877557719140561.post-37107103239956678852016-04-08T12:23:05.082-04:002016-04-08T12:23:05.082-04:00I went for a short dress for my prom. Plus I didn't really care about prom, so I didn't feel the need to go with traditional or whatever.

Erin
http://sexycardi.blogspot.caErinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10883491679644806298noreply@blogger.com
