How to Style ft. Summer Festivals

Hey cupcakes! :) Festival season is HERE! There are so many awesome festivals to visit in the summertime ranging huge events like Coachella to smaller local folk festivals. I love to hit up interesting festivals, and I personally find the best ones to be the ones that are the most unique. I thought I would share with you all some style inspiration for whatever festivals you might be visiting this summer! :D

Outfit #1: Maxi dress - Nothing screams music festival like a good old fashion maxi dress! :) I have been seeing some really cute maxi dresses all over my local mall, and I hope to purchase a couple of them for the warmer months! Because the patterns of maxi dresses can be so overhelming, I suggest pairing them with some simple sandals and cute shades.

Outfit #2: Overalls - Overalls have been in style for a lot longer than I expected, but I think they are so perfect for festivals! Pair them with some comfy shoes, your favorite crop top, and a flower crown and you will look stunning. Plus, you can wear your overalls off the shoulder if you want too!

Outfit #3: Cozy Chic - This is totally the look I typically rock at festivals: jean shorts, sandals, shades, and a flowy top! I think it is perfect for anyone new to festival fashion. :) Paired with a cute summer purse and a braid in your hair, and you will look so stylish!

What do you like to wear at summer festivals? Comment below and don't forget to follow The Chic Cupcake!

My Experience: Sophomore Year of College!

Hey cupcakes! Since my school year has just ended, I thought I would write about the key things I have learned throughout the year. I wrote about some things I learned during my freshman year (read about it here), so I hope to help you all even more if you will be going off to college next year. :) Let's get started!
Image result for sophomore year college

1. Sophomore year is even more stressful than freshman year - Last year all of my sophomore friends told me that sophomore year is a lot of stress. For some reason, I chose to think they just hadn't adjusted to college correctly, weren't organized enough, etc. But they were SO right!!! Sophomore year, at least for me, was the first year I actually could study business in depth, so it was a lot harder than my classes freshman year. Also, you have to actually start figuring things out for your future (internships, job interviews, etc.) so there is ALWAYS something going on!!!

2. Your true friends will stick - Sophomore year is a totally new year, so you will lose some friends over time. However, in college you truly will find friends that you will have for the rest of your life! <3

3. Mental health is so important - As I mentioned before, I was really busy and stressed this year. I had to make sure to reserve some time during my week for "me" time so that I was able to de-stress and maintain my sanity. In college it is so very important to stay healthy both mentally and physically.
Image result for mental health

4. College goes by so fast - I honestly still can't wrap my head around the fact that I am already half way through college! :/ College is amazing, and it feels like just yesterday I was moving in to my freshman dorm. Cherish every single moment and do as much as you can in the little time you have in college!!!

5. A good roommate is everything - My roommate last year wasn't the best, and this year I was lucky enough to room with one of my closest friends. Honestly, a good roommate totally changed my mindset, and I was so much more happy/positive by living with a friend.
Image result for roommate good
6. Don't compare yourself to the people around you - Sophomore year is a weird time where some people are getting internships, some people haven't figured out their major yet, some people are trying to get accepted into a school in Australia to study abroad, etc. Don't sit around and compare yourself to whatever everyone else is doing, just do what YOU want to do! :)

7. Explore what you really love - At the beginning of this year, I thought about all the things I was involved in and made some cuts on clubs that I enjoyed but not loved. This extra time was so beneficial to me, and I was able to explore the things/areas I am totally in love with even more (so don't spread yourself too thin in extracurriculars).

8. You win some, you lose some - I mentioned this in my post "What 2016 Has Taught Me", and I cannot tell you how much this quote helped me throughout sophomore year. College is amazing, but it can also be really stressful at times. It is so important to be able to forget about the minor things that go wrong, and to truly celebrate those things that really matter! :) <3

A Much Needed Break....

Hey cupcakes, I wanted to come on here and let you all know that I will be taking a short break from blogging on The Chic Cupcake. School has been so hectic, and I think it is best for my well-being to wait until this semester is over so that I can produce really good content and not rush to get things posted every three days. I WILL be back towards the end of April (I promise), and I hope to improve The Chic Cupcake when I return. Look forward to some great new content, and thank you all for being so supportive throughout my blogging journey. :)

I will talk to you all very soon! <3

Most Likely Tag ft. My Boyfriend!

Hey cupcakes! My boyfriend came up to visit me this weekend (<3), so I thought I would have him help me with a fun tag (and when I say "help" I mean he sat with me and kept distracting me haha)! I haven't done a tag in SO long on The Chic Cupcake, so let me know if you would like to see more of them. :) Let's get started!

Image result for relationship

Who, out of you and your boyfriend, is most likely:

1. To always be happy? - Definitely me! I am uber optimistic and positive while he tends to have a more realistic take on the world.

2. To forget something important? - Him for sure. Lol - his memory isn't as good as mine!

3. To fall while walking? - Lol me cuz I'm clumsy AF

4. To be the most popular person in school? - I feel like this is a tie... We both can be both social and antisocial, so we know a lot of people.

5. To take care of the other person while sick? - ME; he gets sick a lot more than I do!

6. To get annoyed over small things? - Prolly me.... :P

7. To be impatient? - HIM; patience is not his virtue

8. To complain about things? - Lol we both really enjoy complaining, so I would say it's a tie.

9. To be sweet? - Tots me, I am always sweet ;)

10. To be the healthiest? - Me again, he has a weakness for eating really bad food.

11. To be nice? - We are both really nice, so a tie for sure!

12. To be best at school? - I would say me, but we are both strong in certain areas.

13. To be a good cook? - Lol me because he literally would burn the kitchen down...

14. To fall asleep during a party? - Me because he can stay up until 4 in the morning with no problem at all....

15. To be the best at math? - Totally me, I have a weird passion for math!

16. To cry when happy? - We both don't cry very often, but I can cry when I'm happy if my hormones are messed up :P

17. To be smarter? - We are both strong in certain areas, so I would say we are both pretty smart (however, I have a much stronger work ethic than he does).

18. To buy things they don't need? - HIM; he is the king of impulse buying!

19. To crash their car? - Lol, definitely him. He actually just got his car back from a car accident (this one wasn't his fault tho).

I tag all of you, so comment below the links to your blogs so I can read your posts! Don't forget to follow me! :D

My Favorite Colored Eyeliners

Hey cupcakes! Recently, I have been wearing colored eyeliner a lot. I think this is partly due to the fact that it saves me from having to put on eyeshadow when I'm rushing to my 8:30 AM classes, but I also think it brightens up my looks at the end of this winter (you really need some sunshine on gloomy days!). I thought I would share with you some of my favorite colors/brands of eyeliner, so you all can also embrace this trend! :)

1. Milani Midnight Matte Liquid Eyeliner

This color is a really beautiful dark blue, so if you are looking for a subtle color I would totally recommend this one!

2. Milani Light Teal Eyeliner

Image result for milani light blue eyeliner

I don't think Milani actually produces this anymore (whyyyyy), but I bought this light teal (blueish greenish) eyeliner a long time ago, but I LOVE it! It makes my eye color pop, and I think it is a great statement color.

3. NYX Vivid Brights

If you are looking for a really bold look, I suggest these eyeliners! So many colors and perfect for a statement makeup look!

4. NYC City Proof in Smokey Plum

For those of you who aren't comfortable wearing this trend, I suggest going for a dark purple/plum color. It is the perfect way to ease yourself in to loving the statement pop of color! :)

5. Kleancolor Vibe-Rant Eyeliner

Again, if you are looking for colored eyeliners, cheap makeup is sometimes the way to go! I love searching the Dollar Tree for different shades, and they honestly work just as good as other brands!

Are you up for trying colored eyeliner? Comment below your favorite shade and don't forget to follow me! :)

DIY: Easy Emoji Pillows

Hey cupcakes! I found this really adorable idea on Pinterest recently, so I thought I would share my version of this really easy craft! Emojis are all the rage recently, so you can make your own emoji pillow to embody your fav emotion :P Let's get started!

Image result for diy emoji pillow

What You Need:
-Yellow felt (how large this is depends on how big you want your pillow)
-Black felt (again, depends on how big your pillow will be)
-Any other colors of felt (depending on what emoji you are creating!)
-Pillow stuffing
-Either a hot glue gun or sewing materials (this can be no-sew if you want an even faster craft!)

1. Lay out your yellow felt on a flat surface. Trace two equal circles onto the felt, marking it with the pen or pencil.
Image result for diy emoji pillow steps

2. Cut out the shapes using the scissors!

3. To turn into the actual pillow, either glue or sew around 3/4 of one of the felt circles, attaching the other circle.

4. TURN INSIDE OUT (this cleans the edges of the pillow) and fill with stuffing.

5. Either glue or sew the remainder of the circle to close the stuffing in.

6. Cut out the shapes needed for the face of the emoji and either glue or sew onto the pillow.

7. Ta-da! An easy and adorable emoji pillow for your room! :D

Free Write #4: Run Over by a Snow Plow?!

Hey cupcakes! I did my last free write all the way back in January (and it got quite a bit of views!), so I thought I would write another one today! :) If you are new to the whole "free write" thing, I basically write for ten minutes after seeing a prompt from this random generator. Today's topic:

Write about a time when you were really brave.

Lol - so for some reason when I saw this prompt I automatically thought about a story from middle school that is pretty funny... Let's begin! In I want to say like 5th grade, I lived in a house that had a pretty long driveway. Every day after school I would walk down this driveway to get the mail from the mailbox that was, obviously, at the end of said driveway. One day in the winter I had forgotten to get the mail after school, and at like 9 PM I remembered. At this time it was snowing outside, but I (for some odd reason) thought it was a brilliant idea to bundle up and walk to get the mail, braving the snow storm. Mind you, the snow had just started like an hour ago, so I was trampling through a bunch of snow to even make it to the mail box (like why didn't I just wait until the next day haha). After a few cold minutes, I make it to the end of the driveway and get the mail, which was only like two bills or something totally lame and unexciting. I start walking back to the house when all of a sudden I hear the scrapping of snow behind me - the freaking snow plow had arrived to plow our driveway!!!!

Image result for scared gif

Being a middle schooler, I automatically thought that I was going to die because it was dark outside, there was snow everywhere, so how was the driver going to see me and/or stop before squishing me with the huge plow?! Heart racing I took off running as fast as I could.... And I eventually made it safely back to the house a few yards in front of the plow (lol - sorry for a really anti-climatic ending). The snow plow finished its job, and we both parted ways safely. Haha - so there you have it, a semi-embarrassing story about the time I almost got run over by a plow for a few lousy bills.

When was a time you were really brave? Comment below and don't forget to follow! <3

My Top Ten Interview Tips and Trick!

Hey cupcakes, I hope everyone is having a fantastic Monday! :D I have been interviewing A LOT recently (trying to get those summer internships...), so I thought I would make a post about my top tips and tricks for a successful interview! <3 Let's get started!

1. TRY NOT TO GET TOO NERVOUS - I know interviews can be really stressful, but I always try to remind myself that the interviewer is trying to learn from me as much as I am learning from them! A lot of interviews are just for gauging your personality too, so try to keep you nerves in control!

2. Smile - Again, personality is HUGE, so smile occasionally! A smile can do a lot for an interviewer.
Image result for smile gif

3. Be friendly and make small talk - I know people get really nervous for the "tough questions", but there is also plenty of time during an interview to make small talk with the interviewer, get a sense of what it is like to work at the company, and just give off a friendly personality.

4. Take time when asked a question - Before you answer a question, take like 10-30 seconds to get your thoughts together to get a good response. Nothing is worse than getting no where with an answer, and that totally will not impress the interviewer!

5. Dress the part - I feel like this goes without saying... But, I personally feel so much more confident if I take the time to look really nice and curl my hair. This boost of confidence can really help you out during your interview!

Image result for interview outfit infographic

6. Bring what you need - I have a really nice sized leather tote/purse that I fill with my padfolio (do forget a copy or two of your resume!), my business cards, etc. You do NOT want to seem unprepared!!!

7. Do quite a bit of research - Make sure you take the time to do quite a bit of research on the company you are interviewing for! By doing this prep, you normally can tell what the company values in its employees (which will help you shape your answers to interview questions!).

8. Send a follow up email - At the end of the interview, ask the interviewer for his/her business card. In the span of 24 hours, you should send them a thank you email referencing what you discussed in your interview. The more personal this is the better!!

Image result for typing gif

9. Don't be negative after the fact - No matter what happened at the interview, don't talk about it negatively or think that it went "terrible". Interviewing is HARD, so wait until the company gets back to you before you tell your friends that "there is no way I got it", etc. Positivity is key!!!! :D

10. Remember, practice makes perfect - I have been going to tons of interviews lately, and some of the positions I don't really want... I figure that the more I practice being in an interview situation, the better I will get! There are also plenty of resources online with practice questions, etc.

What are your best interview tips? Comment below and don't forget to follow! <3

How To Style: Subtle Greens

Hey cupcakes! With St. Patrick's Day just around the corner, I wanted to make a style post dedicated to the holiday's famous color: GREEN! Now I know green can be an intimidating color to wear, so I thought I would show you three different outfit ideas that all slip in a pop of green. Enjoy!
Outfit 1 - This first outfit incorporates "army" green in the form of pants. I actually really love wearing my army green jeans, and I think navy tops really make the color pop!

Outfit 2 - If you want to go a bit daring, I suggest finding a green top or sweater. I love this mint green color, and I think it is totally wearable! :)

Outfit 3 - This is my favorite! I have been trying to find a cute lace tank top like this for awhile, and I think the green looks super cute with a black pencil skirt and tan cardigan/jacket. So chic and perfect for work!

How do you like to style your green clothes? Comment below and don't forget to follow! :D

My 5 Favorite YouTubers!

Hey cupcakes! All the way back in 2013 I made a post about my top 8 YouTubers... Well, times have changed and I decided it was time to make a new list of who I absolutely love to watch when I have some down time... :) Let's get started!

1. Piinksparkles
Image result for piinksparkles
Samantha seems to be a really down to earth girl, and she always makes me laugh! Her relationship with her boyfriend are literal goals, and I love how she promotes being true to yourself regardless of what other people think. I know she gets some hate for having fake boobs and butt, but I think she is an iconic believer of doing what makes YOU happy. :) Her videos range from the typical beauty guru videos to serious conversations, which makes her channel unique and always interesting to me. I totally recommend you check her out!

2. SoCraftastic
Image result for socraftastic
Sarah is the most amazing crafter out there, hands down! I have been watching her channel for years now, and I think she makes really high quality content for any type of crafter. She always does a great job editing her videos and there are so many bright colors to catch your eye. If you ever are feeling crafty, I totally recommend checking her out!

3. The Challenge Chomp
Image result for piinksparkles the challenge chomp
Going back to my girl Samantha, this is her and her boyfriend's vlog channel. I really love watching all of their vlogs because they aren't like a lot of YouTubers with really outlandish lives (because you know they are young kids making bank and don't have anything other to do). Their vlogs are more down to earth and I guess "realistic" which makes them really fun to watch!

4. Jess and Gabriel
Image result for jess and gabriel conte
Jess and Gabriel Conte are literal goals! I think they are both really funny, so I love to catch up with what they are up to on their vlog channel. Always puts me in a really great mood!

5. David Dobrik
Image result for david dobrik
Like I mentioned in number 3, a lot of YouTubers have some pretty crazy lives, and David Dobrik's is no different. He makes daily vlogs with all of his Viner friends, and they can be pretty hilarious sometimes. It must be nice to sit around making YouTube videos all day and own a Tesla....

Review: NYC High Definition Liquid Eyeliner

Hey cupcakes! :) Quite a few months ago I wrote a review about the e.l.f Waterproof Eyeliner Pen (read about it here!). While I still really enjoy this eyeliner, it is more on the gray side... I have been wanting to find an easy to apply liquid eyeliner that was actually really black, so I thought I would try this one out!
Image result for nyc high definition liquid eyeliner
I found it at Target for only $3.99, and IT IS AWESOME! The tip of the pen is so thin that it is so easy to apply to the lashes, and I can actually ace a wing :P

Image result for nyc high definition liquid eyeliner
Look how nice this looks! :D
The color is super black, and it dries matte and lasts all day long (I even wore this on a road trip one day and it didn't smudge!). I think this is a really high quality liquid eyeliner, so I would totally recommend you check it out! :D

Recipe: Baked Banana Chips

Hey cupcakes! Whenever I am stressed or doing lots of homework, I always crave snacks... However, it isn't very healthy for me to eat fatty chips, sweet cookies, etc. I have been loving banana chips recently, because they are more on the healthy side and fill my stomach up quickly. I thought I would share with you all my latest fav recipe for baked banana chips! Let's get started! :)

Homemade Banana Chips | @naturallyella
What You Need:
-2 ripe bananas
Image result for how to tell when a banana is ripe
-Lemon juice
-Parchment paper
-Baking tray

1. Preheat the oven to 225 degrees

2. Slice bananas as thinly as you can (without cutting yourself of course!). The thinner the chips are the faster they will cook! :) *Make sure the bananas are all about the same thickness!*

3. Cover a tray with parchment paper

4. Lay on a baking tray and brush with some lemon juice

5. Bake until the chips have dried out (for about 2 - 3 hours!). To get a more even bake, flip the bananas halfway through!

6. When the chips have turned from a dark gold to brown, remove them from the oven and let cool.

7. Enjoy the delicious snack! :D

My Current Music Playlist!

Hey cupcakes! I am currently on Spring Break, and it is SO nice to be relaxing at home with no homework! I've been spending a lot of time with my family and boyfriend, but I have also had some time to do some spring cleaning in my room at home.... With cleaning comes listening to music, so I thought I would make a fun post today sharing my current favorite songs! :D Enjoy!

1. "Another Day of Sun" by the La La Land Cast

This song opens up the film La La Land, and it is just so happy! I love to sing along and gain some extra positivity :D

2. "Fresh Eyes" by Jess and Gabriel

Jessica and Gabriel Conte are one of my fav YouTube couples, and I absolutely love their cover of "Fresh Eyes"! You can listen to it for free on Spotify, and I totally recommend checking out their other covers too.

3. "You Know I'm No Good" by Amy Winehouse

I have been loving to listen to old classics recently, and this song is still one of my favs!

4. "Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)" by The Beatles

Haha again, a gorgeous classic!!!!!

5. "Kids" by OneRepublic

This song is a great pop hit, and it always makes me dance! :P

6. "24K Magic" by Bruno Mars

This song is AWESOME! It is so catchy and easy to sing along to :D

Lent: What to Give Up

Hey cupcakes! I cannot believe it, but Lent is going to start in a few days! :O Being a Catholic, I have always tried to give something up during the 40+ days of Lent. However, I know that for a lot of people they don't really know what to give up, so I thought I would make a post with some suggests today! :) Let's get started!

1. YouTube - If you're like me, YouTube can be a huge distraction when I am procrastinating doing my homework. I gave up YouTube these past two years, and I can honestly say it allowed me to be more productive and focus on the more important things in life.
Image result for youtube logo
2. Your favorite unhealthy food - While this might sound basic, giving things up for Lent is supposed to strenghten your relationship with God as well as make you a better person. So, if you have a habit of eating too much of this food or drinking too much soda, etc. I totally suggest giving it up for Lent!

3. Do something instead - If you don't want to give something up, I suggest doing something everyday to replace it. This could be reading the daily Bible passage, daily rosary, prayers, etc.

4. Negative thoughts - I know it would be impossible to give up negative thoughts completely, but I totally recommend trying to be aware of how much you think negative things, judge people, etc. If you are aware of it, then you can try to minimize it, and I think that is a great outcome for Lent!
Image result for negative thoughts
5. Missing Church - Give up missing Church! I know a lot of people don't go every single week, so I totally recommend giving up skipping Church so that you can attend Mass each week during Lent.

6. A bad habit - If you bite your nails, etc., try giving it up for Lent (and hopefully you can break the habit by the time Lent is over!).

7. Social media - Social media can really stop you from living your life to the fullest because you are always tied to your phone and looking at what everyone else is doing. If you can give up social media during Lent, I think you will not only grow closer to God but also closer to your friends, family, and everyone else around you!

What will you be giving up for Lent? Comment below and don't forget to follow! :D

How to Style: Ear Cuffs

Hey cupcakes! In my last post, I mentioned how I recently bought a pack of ear cuffs... I have really been digging the look, so I wanted to share with you all my favorite ways to rock different styles of ear cuffs! They personally make me feel confident and badass, so I hope you can experiment with them too! :)

1. Statement piece - If you search for ear cuffs on a lot of websites, you will totally see this really elaborate ones that are large and statement pieces (such as dragons, etc.). I totally recommend styling your ear cuff as your statement jewelry piece!

Image result for ear cuffs

2. Just another "piercing" - If you don't really want people to notice your new piece of jewelry, I would opt for a simple ring that looks just like a basic piercing. Still chic but totally wearable!

Image result for ear cuffs

3. Updo focus - If you have a simple or complex ear cuff that you really want to show off, wear your hair in a top knot so all attention goes to your ears! :)

4. Hidden - If you don't want to show off the ear cuff, wear your hair however you normally do and it can be your little secret! :P

Mini Collective Haul

Hey cupcakes! I have recently been spending too much freakin' money.... Oops.

Image result for spending money gif

Haha - I have put myself on a "no spend diet", so I thought I would make a post showing all of my recent purchases in memory of the lost money I've spent ;)

1. Hedgehog shirt - Wet Seal $8

Close up on the hedgehog!
Okay so Wet Seal is going out of business (omg sad!), so I stopped by the store in my local mall to see if they had anything I really liked. I started in the clearance section (like always) and immediately saw this shirt... IT HAS A HEDGEHOG ON IT GUYS (hurry and go buy one before they are sold out for good!)! I was so excited! They only have extra larges, but I bought that sucker anyway, and it looks super cute tied at the side. My new fav shirt for sure! :D

2. Ear cuff set - Rue21 $3

The other day Rue21 had free shipping no minimum, so I kinda went a little crazy (but the deals were amazingggg so how could I not?!)... I have been wanting some ear cuffs for the longest time, so when I saw this set of 6 for only $3 I couldn't pass it up! :)

3. Dinosaur hat - Rue21 $3

Guys, it's beautiful... That is all. ;)

4. Tank tops - Rue21 $2 each

In my last haul (here), I hauled this same tank in burgundy, and it became my new favorite top. So when I saw the same tank in different colors for only $2 I had to buy all the colors in my size! :P

5. Burgundy top - Rue21 $3

Burgundy is my favorite color to wear in the winter, and I have been digging the "lace up" shirts, so I just had to get this burgundy and lace up shirt!!!!! What a steal!

6. Black and white dress top - Forever21 $2.50

Okay, so I am a business major, so I always am looking for more business clothes to add to my growing collection. I was in Forever21, and I found this cute black and white dress tank top in the clearance section. The tag was ripped off and a handwritten tag was on it, so I assume it is from a past season or something? I thought it would look really cute under a blazer, and it turned out to only be $2.50! :D

Well, that's about it for the fashion items of my recent spendings! :P What have you purchased recently? Comment below and don't forget to follow! <3

Spring Break Ideas & Inspiration!

Hey cupcakes! So my Spring Break is just around the corner, and I cannot wait! Unfortunately, my parents are moving in a few months, so my Spring Break will basically be packing up everything with them. BUT, that is still going to be super fun because I get to spend time with them <3 However, I have been dreaming about where to go for my next vacation, so I thought I would suggest some fun things for you all to do over Spring Break! :D Let's get started!

1. Go to a city close to home - If you don't have tons of money to spare (cuz college is expensive y'all), I suggest spending a few days in a city close to home. You can take a train/Amtrak there and stay in an Airbnb to keep costs down too! :) There are so many free and fun things to do in a city, and it will be totally relaxing for you!
Image result for chicago

2. Road trip with all of your friends - Pick a route and hit the road! You can try to hit up as many states as possible or just stop at the weirdest things you see on the way! :P

Image result for road trip

3. Stay home for a week - I know this sounds lame, but I honestly love having a week off from school where I can hang out with my loved ones in my onesie without having to stress about exams and homework! Plus, you can visit all you favorite places in your hometown/catch up with old friends!

4. Go on a cruise - I have alwaysssss wanted to go on a cruise, and they aren't as expensive as you'd think they would be! Go with a huge group of friends, and you will totally have a blast!
