How To Apply Liquid Eyeliner

Make sure to follow The Chic Cupcake to never miss a post!
To apply liquid eyeliner, line the eye from the inside of the lashes outward in one big sweep. You can also line the eye from the middle of the lash line outward, then finish the line from the inner corner of the eye to the middle.

Here is another trick:
-Start with a completely bare eye.
-On the upper lashes, dot the liquid liner into the spaces between the lashes, wiggling the liner into the lashes. The result is not supposed to be a line. It's supposed to look as if the lashes themselves are super thick at the root.
-Apply mascara.

My Top Ten Shopping Tips :)

1. Make a list of what you really need before you go. This will help you not spend any extra money.

2. Look online before you go buy an item. Chances are another stores sells it for cheaper!

3. Look on websites like eBay, GoFavor, etc. when shopping for jewelry. You can find jewelry for $2 when they are $8 at Claire's.

4. Shop with a friend. Don't let the funky lighting in the dressing rooms make you buy tons more clothes. Ask your friend for her opinions.

5. Time out your buys. Make sure you buy an item when it is on sale or wait for it to be on sale. Nothing is worse than buying an item and it going on sale the next day!!!

6. Go to your favorite store's websites and sign up for emails. They will send you what sales are going on and sometimes even coupons. :)

7. If the website doesn't send out coupons, try to find them online.

8. Before going on a fashion spree, make sure you know what you have in your closet so you don't rebuy what you already have. Also, research the products before you buy them. Reviews on blogs will always be honest opinions.

9. Carry some food with you. Shopping takes energy! Make sure you don't get grumpy by snacking before you try things on.

10. Have fun! You can't be successful when you shop if you aren't enjoying yourself! <3

Seventeen September 2012 Review

*Cover stars: Kendall and Kylie Jenners
*New Trends: stripes, plaid, dots, faux fur, and cable knits.
*Best Article: I really enjoyed the 30 Days of Amazing Style article which included 30 outfit ideas for school. This will help me when I need some new inspiration!
*Least Fav Article: I did not care for the 'Fashion Friends' article about cliques and who should wear what. Everyone is an individual and doesn't have to fit in a clique.

Fashion style: Gothic

The Gothic style is simple: punk and black. Being goth and the style gothic is a totally different thing. The style gothic/goth is when you wear something punky that gives your outfit a totally awesome edge. If you are tired of always having totally girly outfits, add a goth necklace or bracelet to set yourself apart from everyone else. Dressing with an edge makes you unique! :)

How To Cover a Blemish

I hate blemishes. Everyone does! Everyone gets one at least once so here is a quick way to cover them up.
*Note: Do NOT pop your zits!*

1. Wash your face and apply a type of pimple/acne cream to the blemish.
2. Using a Q-tip, dot some foundation on it and blend it in.
3. Apply mineral powder to the blemish and the area around it.
4. Enjoy the day blemish free!

This method works for me but experiment with your makeup and see what works for your skin. Sometimes I need to use white or yellowish green eyeshadow to minimize the redness before I use the mineral powder. It's your face so figure out what is best for you! <3

The British and American Flag Trend

Because of the Olympics, British flags seem to be popping up everywhere in the fashion world! American flags are following right behind! You can find these great flags on shirts, necklaces, purses, etc. Here are some great pictures of this trend:

I really like this trend because you can show your patriotism or your Olympic vibe! This trend can also be styled many ways, which leads to individuality. Go RED WHITE and BLUE!

Guest Post #4

Hi readers of the Chic Cupcake! My name’s Bethany Paige and I’m the creator of the blog Paige of Fashion. I was invited to do a guest post for all of you lovely people to read, so I hope you’ll enjoy getting to know me a little better. I figured, since the majority of you won’t really know much about my sense of style, that I’d show you three pieces that I’m loving this season. That way, you’ll all have a better insight in to the sort of things I love to wear.

Here it goes:

Urban outfitters tie dye shorts:

These are just divine aren’t they? I have a slight obsession with shorts and wear the all year round, whether it’s raining or not (let’s be honest it is a lot of the time here in England!) The tie dye is very on trend right now, and the pastel colours make them oh-so-summery. Plus I love the laid back effect given by the frayed hem.

Urban outfitters Deena & Ozzy Orange Chunky Lace-Up Wedges:
Everything about these sandals is perfect. I adore lace up shoes and boots so, as you can imagine, I fell in love with these beauties instantly. I usually stick to more neutral colours when it comes to shoes but how could I resist these tangerine dreams?

Topshop neoprene camo backpack:

If you happen to have read Paige of Fashion, you’ll know that at the moment I’m totally in love with camo pieces. I recently purchased a camo jacket in a local store of mine and literally have worn it almost every day since then! You should also understand that backpacks have been a favourite of mine for a long time. This backpack would be a very welcome addition to my already vast bag collection. I’m really hoping to get it, and if I don’t I will cry haha.

Even though I’ve given you all a quick tour of my fashion loves, there are so many more levels to my style, so it’d be great if you guys could check out my other post at
Thank you to Jenna for the opportunity to do this guest post, it’s been fab.
Thanks for reading guys,
Bethany Paige X

Guest Post #3

Hey The Chic Cupcake readers! It's Samantha from Totally Chic. Today I am guest posting a nail design inspired by my phone case. Sounds weird, right? Yeah, I suppose it's not what most people are inspired by, but why not?

What I Used:

  • Claire's White Nail Polish (from a Claire's nail art kit)
  • A sheer-ish silver polish I got as a gift. The bottle is not marked anywhere :(
  • Wet 'n' Wild Nail Color in 413 Silver Frost Top Coat
  • Revlon Colorstay Nail Enamel in 040 Provence
  • A cute purple shade I received as a gift. Being from the same kit as the silver, it has no words anywhere on the bottle. :(
  • Farmasi Colour Cosmetics (FCC) Nail Polish in Color 68
  • DeArtist Professional Cosmetic Wedges
  • A small water dish
  • Q-Tips
  • Nail Polish Remover

For my water dish, I cut the top off of a plastic cup.

How To Do It:

  1. Apply a white nail polish to your nails.
  2. Once the white dries, add the sheer silver, followed by the silver sparkles.
  3. Fill your water dish with water, then dip a cosmetic sponge in the water dish and squeeze it out. You want the sponge to be damp, but not wet.
  4. Paint the light purple onto one area of the sponge until you have a pretty thick coat on it. The area of the sponge the polish covers should be bigger than your nail.
  5. Press the sponge onto about two-thirds of your nail. See the pictures for placement. Nail polish will get on your finger, we'll fix that later!
  6. After the polish has dried, repeat steps 3 and 4, but use the purple polish instead of the light purple.
  7. Press the sponge onto about one-third of your nail. See the pictures for placement.
  8. Once all the polish has dried completely, apply the sparkle top coat. If you want, you can also apply a clear top coat on top of that to even out the surface of the nail.
  9. Wait until all the polish has dried, then take a Q-tip soaked in Nail Polish Remover and rub it on your finger to remove the nail polish that was put there by the sponging.
And you're done! Admire your pretty digits!

*You can substitute purple for any other color. You just need a light and dark version of that color to create the gradient affect.
